WordPress is the most popular CMS in the website industry. Because it is fast and easy to set up. Most people are setting up their entire business websites based only on WordPress. But as easy it might be, you must take necessary legal precautions. Writing “Copyright” followed by your business name in the website footer will not help! There must be legal actions backing it up, so you can take necessary actions in case something happens. This is where an attorney comes in.Â
So who is an attorney? Here is a definition of attorney collected from Google:
“A person, typically a lawyer, appointed to act for another in business or legal matters.”
Suppose you have a WordPress blog with amazing contents and traffic, you collect leads (names and emails) of visitors, sell products or promote affiliate products. This is a business on which you rely on. But nowadays it is possible for a online stranger to come in and completely copy/clone your website, blogs, steal e-books and resell them as their own. They will pretend to be you and take a big chunk of your customers away from you, taking your money away from you! This may also harm your SEO rankings!
It is absolutely easy to copy any website online using WordPress and page builder plugins such as Elementor, Thrive Architect etc. There are many freelancers on Fiverr who would accurately convert and entire website for as low as $100 or even lower! So your website being copied by a stranger online is only a few clicks away!
Due to these kind of dangers, it is absolutely necessary for you to take some legal precautions before you make your website live. So you can sue the people who will steal your website contents.Â
Obviously, a normal person like you and I do not have much knowledge about legal terms or jargon. Only a lawyer or an attorney will understand that. Before you make your website live, make sure that you fix an appointment with a good attorney and then properly copyright/Trademark/patent your web contents. If you have a WordPress website or any website in general that is not protected legally, make sure you act now! Or else you will regret it for the rest of your life!
Below I am providing some links to attorneys in several countries. If they have a form, make sure to fill them up. It will help them to guide you to the right type of attorney.
